The Ward Musuem was founded to preserve and perpetuate the art form of the handmade decoy. It was named for Steven and Lemuel Ward of Crisfield, MD, the two carvers who pioneered the transition of the decoy from working tool to expressive wildfowl sculpture. The museum sponsors the World Championship Wildfowl Carving Competition as well as classes, workshops, and other special contests and awards.
